Wildcats London Tour

Spring Break was nothing short of amazing as 30 of our members from Vocal Showcase traveled to the UK for a week-long tour of England. The students had the opportunity to perform in Canterbury Cathedral, work with the cast of Hamilton (West End), and sing a concert with VOCES8 in Cadogan Hall. This tour was made possible by Vox Anima London and its Founder and Artistic Director Jamie Meaders, who invited Vocal Showcase to participate. This cultural exchange allowed the students to make friends with students from six other schools from the United States and South Africa. To find out more about the trip, check out our London Trip 2024 page!

This week, 10 of our incredible young singers represented AWest at the Jeffco Honor Choir event at Bear Creek High School. They will be joined by singers from across the district to rehearse and perform a concert under the direction of Dr. Roger Holland (Denver University). We are so proud of these talented vocalists.

Our first AWest Choir Movie Night of the 2023-2024 school year was such a blast! When we said dress for comfort, these guys came prepared. Thank you to everyone who made this awesome event possible!

Music is in the air! The AWest Choirs opened their 2023-2024 Concert Season with two outstanding performances. We are so proud of our students’ commitment to excellence. Between the emotive performances onstage and the leadership taking place backstage, these young people demonstrated incredible professionalism and musicianship. Special thanks go out to our administrators, custodial team, and to our families for supporting the mission of the AWest choral program. We could not do this without you!

10/17/23 and 10/18/23

On October 4th, the AWest Choral Department welcomed choirs from Fairmount Elementary, Vanderhoof Elementary, and Drake Middle School to participate in our annual Vocal Area Festival. It was such a joy to hear hundreds of students performing from across our articulation area. There is no doubt that music education is alive and well in Arvada. We’d like to thank Ms. Laura Hirn, Ms. Emma Hartmann, and Ms. Holly Brinkman for their dedication to improving the lives of our young people through music. We’d also like to thank all of you parents for such an incredible turn out.

Over 400 Tenors and Basses from Jeffco Schools attended the annual Jeffco Tenor-Bass Festival this Thursday. We were very proud to have strong representation from AWest. The students had the opportunity to work with the internationally renowned Barbershop legend Darrin Drown for the morning. Our students also performed one of their AWest concert repertoire pieces for the audience. We even had a few of our students brought on stage to sing the Barbershop tag “When I leave the world behind.” Between learning about acoustical vowels, forward placement, locking in chords, and getting to sing with an incredible set of young people, the Tenor-Bass Festival was a hit!
