London 2024

One of the highlights of Vocal Showcase’s tour of the UK was performing in Canterbury Cathedral. The church was established in 597 AD and has been an active house of worship for over 1400 years. Its historical architecture and beautiful stained glass provided the most incredible backdrop for the sounds of our singers. It was an experience of a lifetime to sing in this iconic place!

Part of our experience in London was attending a workshop with a cast member from the West End’s production of “Hamilton.” Lindsey shared her passion, wisdom, and expertise with the ensemble, leading them in learning some vocal work and choreography. Later that evening, Vocal Showcase had the opportunity to attend the show and see Lindsey work in real-time.

The impetus for this trip came from an invitation by Vox Anima London for Vocal Showcase to perform with Voces8 at Cadogan Hall. This collaboration between Arvada West and six other schools gave the students the opportunity to learn a newly commissioned work as well as some of Voces8’s touring repertoire. Our singers forged new friendships and developed their musical artistry under the tutelage of the Voces8 members.

After a week of action-packed days and nights, Vocal Showcase made it back to Heathrow Airport in time for their flight home to the US. Everyone was pretty exhausted, but our hearts were full. Back in one piece, it was an amazing trip with some amazing singers!
